About Denver

At 5,280 feet above sea level, Denver, the mile high city, boasts 300 days of sunshine, a thriving cultural scene, diverse neighborhoods, and natural beauty in one of the world’s most spectacular playgrounds.  A young, active city at the base of the Rocky Mountains, Denver’s stunning architecture, award-winning dining and unparalleled views are all within walking distance of the 16th Street pedestrian mall.  Short day trips to world-class skiing, upscale shopping in Cherry Creek, and seven professional sports teams make Denver ready to entertain year-round.

Sixth on Forbes Magazine’s “Best Places for Business and Careers”, Denver embraces a wide variety of industries and is home base for many Silicon Valley commuters.  Due to its proximity to the mineral-rich Rocky Mountains, Denver has long been a home for mining and energy companies such as EnCana and Halliburton as well as telecommunications companies like Liberty Media, Starz-Encore, DirecTV and Dish Networks.  The Denver Technology Center hosts field offices for technology giants such as Microsoft, Oracle, and IBM.  The city is headquarters for several national chain restaurants; such as Chipotle Mexican Grill, Noodles and Company, Qdoba Mexican Grill, Quizno’s and Smashburger; all of which were founded in Denver.  Because of Denver’s almost-equal distance from Midwest cities (such as St. Louis and Chicago) and West Coast cities (such as San Diego and Los Angeles), Denver is also a storage and distribution hub for the country.

The city is home to several colleges and universities including University of Denver, University of Colorado, The and the Art Institute of Colorado.  It also boasts some of America’s best public schools, like Denver School of Science and Technology, Denver School of the Arts, and Cherry Creek High School whose scores are among the best in the nation.
